So. then. now. in that case…

My name is Alli VanKleeck, but I go by the artist moniker Allora. I’ve spent my career building visual identities, telling stories, and creating work that helps people connect with the businesses, organizations, and places around them. I founded Hot Slice Design Studio in 2018, where I worked with clients across the country to develop thoughtful, highly visual brands. Over the years, that work naturally grew beyond the screen and onto walls.

That evolution eventually led to Smock & Roll Murals, the mural studio I co-founded with artist Caroline Kane. Since 2019, we’ve created more than 70 murals across multiple countries, ranging from large-scale commercial installations to public art, community projects, festivals, schools, and spaces designed to serve people navigating difficult circumstances. Our work has taught me that a successful mural isn't simply a large piece of artwork—it is an opportunity to understand a place, listen to the people connected to it, and create something that feels like it belongs there.

My work under the moniker Allora is the next chapter. It brings together my background in graphic design, branding, illustration, and large-scale painting with a deep belief in the power of place-based art. I’m interested in murals that do more than fill a blank wall. I want to create work with a point of view—art that responds to its surroundings, celebrates the character of a community, tells a story, sparks conversation, or simply makes someone’s everyday experience a little more memorable.
