Inspired by a short story in Kim Fu’s Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century where women grow claws, fangs, etc. as mutations to be able to protect themselves better, this series features woodland animals with a piece of their body replaced by weaponry. Quilting motifs are used as a further nod to traditional “femininity” which work in contrast with the bold illustration style of the creatures.
